In the recent released movie━Fast Five, the drug lord who controlled Rio de Janeiro told one of his people how he got and maintained control of that country. He said, "Give people schooling, electricity, and other modern conveniences and you then own them." Simply, this is the fundamental formula of socialism as used in the modern world to "soften" people.
Things that are controlled by "The State" are deemed to be socialist. In a sense, the government acts as a henchman to impose things on people that would otherwise be unlawful. A thing called private law is how this is accomplished.
Long before our time, Thomas Jefferson was said to say this about a socialist state...
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
Accordingly this brings us to the socialist mentality types... The ones that fuel the disease.
To the socialist mind, it matters not that the system is destined to fail. The socialist will keep contracting with government and those who expect the free ride will keep taking until there is nothing left. People who get funding from government, be they employees, corporations, or welfare recipients matters not. There is little or no cause to do the right thing in the eyes of these people. It is all about "me" with these types. They will take until there is nothing left to take.
After all, such people are "entitled", are they not?
To assist in understanding the disease, now let us look at the characteristics of the socialist creature: footnote 1
1) A socialist is a person who likes to tell other people what to do. Such a person believes he knows better than all others, thus such a person likes to impose his will on other people and works diligently to achieve his goals. He uses others as tools to achieve the goals he desires; in most cases such a person uses the emotions of people to get his way and will lie, cheat and steal to impose his unjust will and prejudices. All such actions generally encompass some form of objective to be achieved by such a person. A main objective is to have power in order to exercise control over others.
A person of the above socialist variety is inherently an oppressor. These days, the people who Americans let rule over them have this type mentality. They are called politicians: The "maintainers" of the 14th Amendment governmental system.
Now let use look at the entitled people who just love the current governmental system that is grounded in socialism:
2) A socialist is a person who likes to take from society to benefit himself. Such a person really does not have the fortitude to work hard for what he desires and wants others to provide it for him. As such a person is of a weak minority, he must group with others and harass his society to obtain what he wants to make-up for what he is too shiftless to work for. Thus as a rule, such a person is willing to take from people he does not even know and is a burden to society.
That particular variety of socialist is generally used as a tool by the faction that is of the dictatorial variety. Accordingly, the nature of the relationship is reciprocal. That is to say, one will use the other to achieve/receive what the other desires footnote 2.
To expand on the premise of the free-ride governmental system and its plethora of entrapments, in the case of Ashwander vs. TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority), the court developed its own set of rules that are surmised in this simple form:
• No one can reach constitutional grounds if he avails himself of the benefit of any statute...get full rules here...
In other words, if you are engaging in any law that Congress has established under the principles of private law, you are not protected by the Constitution in its strict form. You have entered into the 14th Amendment privileges and immunities world, and thrown off the privileges and immunities of the Constitution. The latter protects from government intrusion, while the former allows for intrusive government. Of course, the governmental system under the 14th Amendment is setup to operate with a gray area so that it may maintain itself under the collective socialist scheme. Accordingly, see what happened:
"The common law is the will of mankind issuing from the life of the people." ~The United States Department of Justice
Is there some double-speak here, perhaps: "Will of Mankind" & "issuing FROM the life of The People" ?
So, who are really "The People" ? Understand that THEY are the Rulers. Their LIFE is to rule/judge YOU and decide what YOUR fate is to be in just about every aspect of your life. YOUR LIFE is issued by THEM and enforced by the custom and usage of the public. In its intended form, the common law is based on the custom and usage of a society, thus unique to each state in the Union. The United States has nothing to do with it. But those principles are out the door, for most people want those wonderful entitlements issued by government. The common law─or the custom and usages─of the multitude of citizens of the United States is to dig into that wonderful system of entitlements : Yes. The benefit of being a legal entity way out-numbers being a responsible man or woman of God. The masses of U.S. citizens are now under "Public Policy" due to their custom and usage of Socialism issued by the governments, not law issued and practiced by peoples of the countries in the Union... more...
And how about those corporate entitlements? Let "The State" create you and give you what you want and need though privileges, bailouts, etc. And if your corporation does not work out, you do not have to pay. Perhaps bankruptcy is the key. No real punishment for being financially irresponsible. Just walk away stiffing everyone around you and leave them holding the bag. Ah yes, limited liability is where it is at. Because as it has been taught, there would be no one in business if he thought he may lose everything. Why be responsible for your actions when "The State" allows you to be irresponsible through entitlements. After all, that is what representative government is all about, right?...
That is to say, what "benefits" can my government provide for me today?
The entitlement disease has gotten so bad there are many people justifying that they do not have an obligation to pay their debts. This notwithstanding what Christ told people. He said "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's", i.e., if you have obligations to someone, honor them. Nonetheless, some people out there telling people not to pay their credit cards for multiple reasons...
All reasons ridiculous, or course. The trickle-down effect on this causes insurmountable damage to people down the line. The worst thing is some bank or financial institution may get a "bailout" where all Americans have to pay for these people who dishonor their contracts. Nonetheless, the mind of the entitled person appears to prevail. In venturing who is behind these don't pay programs, we might even find that the ones behind wanting to destroy the economy of America so it can be taken over more readily. Or perhaps this is a plot so that a new system of currency could be installed. Nonetheless it seems that most Americans feel they have been lied to and taken for a ride, wherefore they are entitled to be dishonest and get "free stuff" due to such fact.
So, does this mean "entitlement" is synonymous of one being irresponsible and a thief ?
IN CLOSING: The Bible teaches us not to covet the goods of our neighbors. But in the socialist world and its mentality, "What is yours is mine." After all, you owe these people. These socialist creatures understand that being responsible for themselves is not a requirement. They just request that government be responsible for them. After all, they elect a bunch of Representatives and a President to 'Do it for them'... That is "steal" for them in the name of "Paying YOUR fair share." Yep. Simply: Marxism.
All the irresponsibility and taking through entitlements aside, the Constitution for the United States of America guarantees to us a Republican Form of Government, which relates to being FREE from all things PUBLIC...more... The problem is that most people in America have been conned into participating in the 14th Amendment political system and love receiving its wonderful doles. Sorry to say, but if you prescribe to this nonsense YOU ARE OWNED! ...Owned by unseen slave masters.
It is sad to say, but ...Americans truly LOVE their MARXISM! That sad fact noted, understand the "Republic" is still there...

After the so-called Civil War, Meeker was sent to Colorado by the federal government to "civilize" the Ute Indians. He told the Ute Indians they had to establish commercial style agriculture. Consequently, neither socialist had dictated to anyone ever again.
Justice Brandeis in Ashwander v. TVA, 297 US 288 (1936). The Court developed, for its own governance in the cases confessedly within its jurisdiction, a series of rules under which it has avoided passing upon a large part of all the constitutional questions pressed upon it for decision. They are as follows:
1. The Court will not pass upon the constitutionality of legislation in a friendly, nonadversary, proceeding, declining because to decide such questions is legitimate only in the last resort, and as a necessity in the determination of real, earnest, and vital controversy between individuals. It never was the thought that, by means of a friendly suit, a party beaten in the legislature could transfer to the courts an inquiry as to the constitutionality of the legislative act [No advisory opinions. No collusive suits].
2. The Court will not anticipate a question of constitutional law in advance of the necessity of deciding it.
3. The Court will not formulate a rule of constitutional law broader than is required by the precise facts to which it is to be applied.
4. The Court will not pass upon a constitutional question although properly presented by the record, if there is also present some other ground upon which the case may be disposed of. This rule has found most varied application. Thus, if a case can be decided on either of two grounds, one involving a constitutional question, the other a question of statutory construction or general law, the Court will decide only the latter. Appeals from the highest court of a state challenging its decision of a question under the Federal Constitution are frequently dismissed because the judgment can be sustained on an independent state ground.
5. The Court will not pass upon the validity of a statute upon complaint of one who fails to show that he is injured by its operation. Among the many applications of this rule, none is more striking than the denial of the right of challenge to one who lacks a personal or property right. Thus, the challenge by a public official interested only in the performance of his official duty will not be entertained [Standing].
6. The Court will not pass upon the constitutionality of a statute at the instance of one who has availed himself of its benefits.
7. When the validity of an act of the Congress is drawn in question, and even if a serious doubt of constitutionality is raised, it is a cardinal principle that this Court will first ascertain whether a construction of the statute is fairly possible by which the question may be avoided.
